Amazon Account Locked or Suspended: How to Fix It
Amazon has put your account on hold or locked it, and you can't sign in or place orders.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Check your email and texts. Amazon sends an 'Account on hold' notice explaining what it needs (Amazon Help).
- Sign in and fill out the form. Sign in to Amazon, complete the form you're shown, and attach the documents it asks for (Amazon Help).
- Use the secure portal, not the phone. Amazon says submitting details through its sign-in portal is the fastest way to unlock. Customer Service will point you to the same steps (Amazon Help).
- Watch for phishing. Only follow links after you sign in directly at amazon.com — scammers send fake 'account locked' emails.
- Expect other services to pause. While your account is on hold, Prime, Amazon Music, Kindle, Alexa, and Ring are on hold too (Amazon Help).
Still stuck? Holds usually happen after unusual payment activity. Amazon emails or texts you about pending orders while the review is underway (Amazon Help).
