Amazon Prime Video Not Working on TV: How to Fix It
Prime Video won't play, buffers forever, or shows an error code on your TV or streaming device.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Close and reopen the app. Fully close Prime Video before trying again (Prime Video Help).
- Turn off VPNs and fix the date and time. Set your device's date and time to automatic and switch off any VPN or proxy (Prime Video Help).
- Restart the TV or device. Turn it off, wait at least 60 seconds, then turn it back on (Prime Video Help).
- Update the app and device. On Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for System Update. Update Prime Video from your app store (Prime Video Help).
- Check how many screens are streaming. You can stream the same title on two devices at a time (Prime Video Help).
- Check your HDMI cable. External devices need an HDCP 1.4 cable for HD, or HDCP 2.2 for 4K/HDR (Prime Video Help).
- Restart your router and pause other downloads, then reinstall the Prime Video app if it still fails (Prime Video Help).
Still stuck? These steps cover the most common Prime Video error codes, including 1007, 7031, 7203, and 9074. Factory reset the device only as a last resort, since it wipes downloads and logins (Prime Video Help).
