CapCut Won't Save Your Project: How to Fix It
You edit a video in CapCut, then the project vanishes from your list or reopens missing your latest changes.
Try these in order
- Scroll the whole Projects list Open CapCut and look through the Projects section on the home screen — missing work often sits further down the list rather than at the top (TechBabble).
- Look for drafts Check for projects labelled "Draft" or "Untitled" and open them, since unfinished edits often save under those names (TechBabble).
- Check your cloud projects Log in to your CapCut account and look in the Cloud projects section, as projects can sync there when you're signed in (TechBabble).
- Free up device storage Open Settings > Storage, clear some space, restart CapCut and reopen your project — a full device stops CapCut writing new project data (TechBabble).
- Reopen the project immediately after a crash If CapCut closed unexpectedly, partial data may still be in temporary storage, so reopen the project straight away to let the app restore your editing state (TechBabble).
- Update CapCut Newer versions often include fixes to project saving and syncing (TechBabble).
- Protect future projects Stay logged in for cloud syncing, duplicate important projects before big edits, and keep backups of your original media files (TechBabble).
