Discord Notifications Not Working: How to Fix It
You never get a ping when someone messages you, or notifications only appear when the Discord app is already open.
Try these in order
- Close the app to test it. Discord doesn't send push notifications while the app is open on your screen, no matter what your settings say (Discord Support).
- Turn on Enable All Notifications. On mobile, tap the cog next to your avatar and switch on Enable All Notifications — the other options only appear once it's on (Discord Support).
- Check the behaviour and sound settings. In the same screen make sure "Notifications wake up device" is on and "Disable sounds" is off (Discord Support).
- Check whether the server is muted. Open the server's Notification Settings and make sure Mute Server is off (Discord Support).
- Change the server's notification frequency. Set it to All Messages instead of Only @mentions or Nothing if you want a ping for every message (Discord Support).
- Restart Discord fully. Close it completely, wait 30 seconds, and reopen it (Discord Support).
- Update the app and check your connection. Install the latest version from Settings > App Settings, and test your internet with a speed test (Discord Support).
Still stuck? Check Discord's status page for a service problem, and if notifications still never arrive contact Discord Support at dis.gd/contact (Discord Support).
