Instagram Account Disabled or Suspended: How to Fix It
Instagram says your account has been disabled or suspended, and you can't use it.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Read the notice carefully. Instagram tells you by email and when you open the app or website. The notice says why and whether you can appeal (Instagram Help).
- Log in to see your options. If Instagram says you can appeal and you think it made a mistake, follow the on-screen instructions to submit an appeal (Instagram Help).
- Check the age requirement. You must be at least 13 to have an Instagram account. Accounts flagged as underage may be asked to confirm age (Instagram Help).
- Don't make a new account to get around it. Creating another account while one is disabled can make the situation worse under Instagram's Terms of Use.
- Watch out for appeal scams. Instagram never charges to restore an account. Ignore anyone who DMs or emails offering to unlock it for a fee.
- Get live help. You can chat with the Meta AI support assistant from Instagram's Help Center (Instagram Help).
Still stuck? If the notice doesn't offer an appeal, Instagram treats the decision as final. If it does, appeal once with accurate information and wait — repeat appeals don't speed it up.
