Snapchat Camera Not Working: How to Fix It
Snapchat opens to a black screen, the camera freezes, or the picture is blurry and nothing you tap makes it come back to life.
Try these in order
- Restart the Snapchat app Fully close Snapchat and open it again — this refreshes the app and often gets the camera running immediately.
- Check your internet connection Switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi. Connection problems can affect how the camera works.
- Check for Snapchat updates Open the App Store or Google Play and make sure you're on the newest version of Snapchat.
- Restart your device Turn your phone off and back on again — this helps all your apps run better, including the camera.
- Make sure Snapchat has camera permission In your phone's app settings, confirm camera access is switched on for Snapchat.
- Clear your Snapchat cache In Settings, tap Clear Data, then Clear Cache. This frees up storage without deleting your Memories or Chats.
