Snapchat Won't Let You Log In: How to Fix It

You enter your username and password and Snapchat rejects them, shows an error code like SS01 or SS04, or tells you your account is locked or temporarily disabled.

Try these in order

  1. Double-check your login details Make sure your username and password are spelled correctly, and try logging in with your email or phone number instead of your username.
  2. Update the app and check your connection Install the latest Snapchat version, then switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data or move somewhere with better signal.
  3. Unlock a temporarily locked account If you see a lock message (error SS04), go to accounts.snapchat.com and select "Unlock," then try again.
  4. Wait 48 hours if you're temporarily disabled Errors SS01, SS03, and SS08 mean too many failed attempts or unusual activity. Snapchat asks you to wait a full 48 hours before trying again.
  5. Reset your password If you can't remember it, use the reset option with the email or phone number linked to your account. You'll need access to one of them.
  6. Reactivate a deactivated account If you deactivated it, just log in with that username — you have 30 days before it's scheduled for permanent deletion.
Still stuck? If your account was permanently locked, you may be able to submit a locked account appeal. For a hacked or compromised account, contact Snapchat Support with an email address you can access — and never share your password with anyone, including support.
