WhatsApp Account Banned: How to Fix It
WhatsApp says your phone number is banned from using WhatsApp.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Tap Request review in the app. This is the only official way to appeal a ban (WhatsApp Help).
- Wait for the decision in WhatsApp. Most reviews finish within 24 hours, and WhatsApp notifies you in the app (WhatsApp Help).
- Don't contact WhatsApp another way. Messaging support separately or through someone else's account won't speed it up or change the decision (WhatsApp Help).
- If unbanned, re-verify your number. When WhatsApp shows 'This account can now use WhatsApp', enter your phone number to verify and re-register (WhatsApp Help).
- Stop using unofficial WhatsApp apps. Modified versions of WhatsApp aren't supported and can get numbers banned (WhatsApp Help).
- Review the Terms of Service. Spam, scams, and anything that puts others at risk can cause bans — read the Acceptable Use section to avoid a repeat (WhatsApp Help).
Still stuck? If Request review isn't offered, the ban is final and can't be appealed. Your chats and backups stay locked until the number is unbanned (WhatsApp Help).
