WhatsApp Status Not Updating: How to Fix It
You can't see a contact's WhatsApp Status, your own status views aren't showing, or a status you were mentioned in is missing.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Save each other as contacts. You usually need to be in each other's contacts to see status updates. Check numbers are saved in full international format (WhatsApp Help).
- Ask them to check their status privacy. They may have limited who can see their status — you might not be in their audience (WhatsApp Help).
- Turn on read receipts to see views. Read receipts must be on for both you and the viewer to see who viewed a status (WhatsApp Help).
- Check whether you blocked them. You won't see status updates from people you've blocked (WhatsApp Help).
- Remember statuses expire. A status only lasts 24 hours, and the person may have deleted it (WhatsApp Help).
- Restart and update WhatsApp, and make sure you have a strong connection (WhatsApp Help).
