WhatsApp WhatsApp Web Not Connecting: How to Fix It

WhatsApp Web or Desktop shows 'Computer not connected', won't load your chats, or messages won't send from your computer.

What exactly is happening?

Try these in order

  1. Check your computer's internet. A yellow 'Computer not connected' banner usually means the computer's connection dropped (WhatsApp Help).
  2. Refresh the page or restart the app. On WhatsApp Web, refresh the browser tab. On WhatsApp Desktop, quit and reopen it (WhatsApp Help).
  3. Log out and back in. If it's still stuck, log out of WhatsApp Web or Desktop and link it again by scanning the QR code with your phone (WhatsApp Help).
  4. Use a supported browser. WhatsApp Web works on the latest Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or Safari — not Internet Explorer (WhatsApp Help).
  5. Check work or school Wi-Fi. Managed networks can block WhatsApp Web. The network needs to allow web.whatsapp.com and whatsapp.net — ask your IT team (WhatsApp Help).
Still stuck? WhatsApp Web needs a strong, stable connection. If it only fails on one network, the network is blocking it (WhatsApp Help).
