Facebook Account Hacked: How to Fix It
Someone got into your Facebook account — your profile picture changed, posts or messages appeared that you didn't send, or your login details were changed.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Go to facebook.com/hacked. This is Facebook's official page for accounts someone else has accessed (Facebook Help).
- Use a device you've logged in from before. Facebook recognizes familiar devices, which makes recovery more likely to work (Facebook Help).
- Reverse an email change. If your account email was changed, find the message Facebook sent to your old address and click the link to undo it and secure the account (Facebook Help).
- Check that emails really come from Facebook. Hackers send fake security emails — verify before clicking anything (Facebook Help).
- Log out devices you don't recognize. Go to Settings → Where you're logged in, select any unfamiliar device, and log it out (Facebook Help).
- Change your password and turn on two-factor authentication once you're back in, so the same trick doesn't work twice.
Still stuck? If you've lost access to both your email and phone number, follow Facebook's account recovery steps linked from the hacked page (Facebook Help).
