Facebook Photos Won't Upload: How to Fix It
Photos get stuck uploading, fail with an error, or never show up on your post or profile.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Check your connection. A weak Wi-Fi or mobile signal is the most common cause — Facebook recommends a strong connection for uploads (Facebook Help).
- Upload the original photo. Edited versions from other apps sometimes fail — try the unedited original instead (Facebook Help).
- Check the file size. Facebook recommends uploading photos under 15 MB. Very large photos from newer phones can exceed this (Facebook Help).
- Update the app or try a different browser. An outdated app or browser can break uploads. On a computer, try turning off ad blockers for Facebook.
- Check your Support Inbox. If you were warned for posting content against the rules, Facebook may temporarily block you from uploading photos (Facebook Help).
- Report the problem. If nothing works, use Facebook's report-a-problem tool so the team can look into it (Facebook Help).
Still stuck? Temporary upload blocks lift on their own. If you weren't warned and uploads still fail on every device, it's likely a Facebook-side bug — report it and try again later.
