PayPal Account Permanently Limited: How to Fix It

PayPal has limited your account, and you can't send or withdraw money.

What exactly is happening?

Try these in order

  1. Read the email PayPal sent. It explains why your account was limited (PayPal Help).
  2. Open the Resolution Center. Or click the bell icon at the top of your Dashboard to see the details and any steps to complete (PayPal Help).
  3. Upload what PayPal asks for. Usually proof of identity, like a driver's license, through your Notifications Center (PayPal Help).
  4. Check your email after you submit. PayPal may ask for more information, or may still be reviewing what you sent (PayPal Help).
  5. Rule out a phishing email. If you got a 'limited' email but see nothing in the Resolution Center, forward it to phishing@paypal.com and delete it (PayPal Help).
  6. Change your password if you clicked any links in a suspicious email (PayPal Help).
Still stuck? PayPal says customer service generally can't remove a limitation over the phone — complete the steps and wait for PayPal to contact you (PayPal Help).
