PayPal Dispute or Claim Not Resolving: How to Fix It
Your PayPal dispute is stuck, the seller isn't responding, or you're not sure how to escalate.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Message the seller first. In the Resolution Center, use the dispute to try to sort it out directly (PayPal Help).
- Escalate to a claim. Go to the Resolution Center → select the dispute → Need Help? → Review my case, and add your information (PayPal Help).
- Don't miss the 20-day deadline. Disputes close automatically after 20 days unless escalated, and closed disputes can't be reopened (PayPal Help).
- Know when you can escalate. PayPal often requires at least 7 days since the payment date (PayPal Help).
- Answer PayPal's requests quickly. Check your email and the Resolution Center for requests for more information (PayPal Help).
- Expect about 14 days for a decision. Some cases take 30 days or longer (PayPal Help).
Still stuck? If PayPal decides against you and you paid by card, your card issuer may still be able to help with a chargeback.
