PayPal Money On Hold: How to Fix It
Money someone paid you is showing as on hold or unavailable in PayPal.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Click Know your options. Log in and click Know your options under your balance to see why it's held and how to release it (PayPal Help).
- Finish identity verification. Complete every verification step, including any video KYC call (PayPal Help).
- Mark the order Completed. For goods and services payments, confirm the order status as Completed — you should get the money 7 days after that (PayPal Help).
- Sort out buyer problems. Holds can happen when customers report problems or ask for refunds, so resolve those first (PayPal Help).
- Know why new sellers get holds. Holds are common on new accounts, accounts that haven't sold in a while, changed selling patterns, and higher-risk items like tickets, electronics, and gift cards (PayPal Help).
Still stuck? Holds usually ease once you build a track record of completed sales without disputes.
