Zoom Screen Share Not Working: How to Fix It

The Share Screen button is missing or greyed out, or your share stops the moment other people join.

Try these in order

  1. Look for the Share Screen button first. If it's missing for participants, the host hasn't allowed participants to share (Zoom Support).
  2. Ask the host to allow participant sharing. In the meeting the host can switch "Who can share?" from Host Only to All Participants (Zoom Support).
  3. If you're the host, check your web portal settings. Sign in to the Zoom web portal, go to Settings > Meetings > In Meeting (Basic) and turn Screen sharing on (Zoom Support).
  4. Turn off the guest restriction. If sharing stops as guests join and you see "You are restricted from screen sharing in this meeting," disable "Disable screen sharing when guests are in the meeting" (Zoom Support).
  5. Ask your Zoom admin. If the setting is greyed out in the portal, it's locked at the group or account level and only an admin can unlock it (Zoom Support).
  6. Reinstall Zoom if it crashes when you share. Run CleanZoom to remove Zoom fully, then install the current 64-bit client and test sharing again (Zoom Support).
  7. Update your drivers, then change the rendering method. Update graphics and other drivers; if it still fails, set Settings > Video > Advanced > Video Rendering Method to Direct3D9 and restart (Zoom Support).
Still stuck? Share a single window instead of your whole desktop as a workaround, and contact your organisation's Zoom admin or Zoom Support with the exact error message.
