TikTok Account Banned: How to Fix It

TikTok says your account has been banned or permanently suspended.

What exactly is happening?

Try these in order

  1. Check why. Go to Inbox → System notifications → Account updates to see the violation notice (TikTok Support).
  2. Log in and submit an appeal if you believe the ban was a mistake (TikTok Support).
  3. Download your data. A banned account can still log in to download its personal data before it's deleted (TikTok Support).
  4. Don't make a new account to get around it. Using another account to evade a ban can lead to that account being banned too (TikTok Support).
  5. Secure your account if you think it was hacked. Run Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Security & permissions → Security checkup, and remove devices you don't recognize (TikTok Support).
  6. Know how strikes work. Strikes expire after 90 days, and deleting the content doesn't remove them (TikTok Support).
Still stuck? If your appeal is approved, the account comes back and the strike is removed. If it's denied, the decision stands (TikTok Support).
