TikTok Can't Change Username: How to Fix It
TikTok won't let you change your username, or the name you want is rejected.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Use the right steps. Tap Profile → Edit profile → Username, enter the new name, then tap Save (TikTok Support).
- Check the 30-day rule. You can only change your username once every 30 days (TikTok Support).
- Use allowed characters only. Letters, numbers, underscores, and periods are allowed — but a period can't be the last character (TikTok Support).
- Try a different name. The username may already be taken. A username someone just gave up can't be claimed for a short time (TikTok Support).
- Verified accounts need to contact TikTok. Verified accounts can't change usernames in the app (TikTok Support).
Still stuck? Changing your username also changes your profile link, so update it anywhere you've shared it (TikTok Support).
