TikTok Sound Muted or Unavailable: How to Fix It
TikTok muted your video, or a sound you used now says it's unavailable.
What exactly is happening?
Try these in order
- Find out why. Open your muted video and tap the notice at the bottom to see why the sound was removed (TikTok Support).
- Appeal a Community Guidelines removal. From that notice, tap Submit appeal and follow the instructions (TikTok Support).
- Appeal a copyright removal if offered. If the sound was removed for copyright and an appeal is available, tap Appeal (TikTok Support).
- Or replace the sound. For copyright removals, tap Change sound, pick a new one, then tap Post or Save sound changes. You'll need to do this for each affected video (TikTok Support).
- Use the Commercial Music Library for business accounts. Business accounts have a smaller music library, so many popular songs aren't available.
Still stuck? While an appeal is under review, every video using that sound stays muted. If it's approved, the sound comes back on all of them (TikTok Support).
