Venmo

Venmo Bank Verification Failing: How to Fix It

Your bank account won't verify — the small test deposits never show up, the amounts you enter are rejected, or Venmo marks the account "Invalid."

Try these in order

  1. Wait 1 to 3 business days After adding a bank manually, Venmo sends two small deposits and two withdrawals, each under $1. They take a few days to appear as separate items on your statement.
  2. Keep at least $2 in the account The deposits and withdrawals cancel each other out, but a low balance can trigger overdraft or other bank fees that disrupt the process.
  3. Enter both amounts carefully In the app, go to the Me tab, tap the bank marked "Unconfirmed" in your Wallet, tap Verify, enter the two microtransfer amounts, and tap Verify again.
  4. Double-check your routing and account numbers A mistyped number is the most common reason microtransfers fail. Call your bank to confirm both numbers are correct.
  5. Delete the bank and add it again If the details were wrong or the deposits are dated too far back to find, remove the unverified bank and re-add it so Venmo sends fresh microtransfers.
  6. Try instant verification instead Selecting your bank and signing in through Plaid verifies it immediately, avoiding microtransfers altogether.
Still stuck? Ask your bank to confirm there are no restrictions on electronic or ACH transactions — savings accounts often aren't eligible. If Venmo can't revalidate the account, use a different bank account or card instead.
