Venmo Login Issues: How to Fix It

Venmo won't accept your sign-in details, or it keeps sending a verification code to an old phone number you no longer have access to.

Try these in order

  1. Don't create a new account Making a second account causes problems with your payment methods, and Venmo's rules only allow one personal account per person.
  2. Try all your sign-in options You can sign in with the email address, phone number, or username you signed up with, along with your password. Business profiles use the same login as the connected personal account.
  3. Reset your password On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot your password?" and follow the reset process.
  4. Make sure you're tapping Sign In, not Sign Up Choosing the wrong one is a common cause of 400 and 403 errors. Note that you can only log into Venmo from within the U.S.
  5. Sign in from a device you've used before A remembered device may let you skip the security code challenge if you can't receive the code on your old number.
  6. Use the alternative identity check Enter your username and password, then on the next screen tap "Other options to confirm your identity" or "I don't have access to this phone."
Still stuck? If those options don't appear, contact Venmo Support to verify your identity with your full name, account email, old phone number, and partial bank or card details — never the full numbers. Once you're back in, update your phone number right away.
